Remodelling garments with care

The process starts with an inspection of the garment and any materials you want to reuse. We review construction, fabric condition, seam allowances, and the fit you want before discussing the best approach.

For redesign work, a concept review helps define what can be made from the existing piece. Usable fabric, wear, and structure all affect the final result, so the scope is confirmed before work begins.

From fit updates to full redesigns, every project begins with a close look at the garment, its fabric, and what can realistically be achieved.

Barking Stitch works on clothing that deserves a second life, whether you want a cleaner fit, a fresh shape, or a thoughtful upcycling idea.

Alteration work is explained clearly, with the seams and adjustments outlined in advance. A written scope helps keep the project focused and makes it easier to review the finish at collection.

We also consider how the garment will be worn after the work is complete, including pressing and care notes where relevant. If extra materials are needed, they are discussed separately once availability has been checked.
