Remodelling garments with purpose

Our garment remodelling work begins with a careful review of the fabric, construction, and condition of the piece. That inspection helps define what can be changed, what should stay, and where the design needs to respect the limits of the original garment.

For redesign projects, we discuss the concept first and confirm the scope before work begins. Some ideas can be achieved directly from the existing material, while others may need a more restrained approach if the fabric, grain, or damage limits the result.

Use what already works, reshape what does not, and keep the character of the original piece.

Barking Stitch creates wearable updates for clothing that still has value, but needs a new fit, new function, or a fresh silhouette.

We handle dress and skirt remodelling, shirt and jacket restyling, vintage-garment fit updates, and fabric-reuse accessory projects. The goal is to give each item a clearer purpose while keeping the work practical, wearable, and well finished.

Customers often come to us with sentimental clothing or vintage pieces they want to keep in use. We can review customer-supplied materials as part of the project, and any supplementary materials are quoted separately when needed.
